Wandering souls
Swaying in the distance
Shrinking under the heat
The blaring gaze of the sun
Unforgiving on their backs
Compelling them to turn around
Face to face with the sun
As it accuses them
Abuses them
Tricks them into submission
But the cowards turn away
And sway to-and-fro
To-and-fro
The heat burning the flesh off their backs
While they transform into spineless snakes
Slithering into their dark homes
Suffocating in the black velvety atmosphere
Never to return to the light
