Color Blind
You strut by the father and son
By your evil stare,
You think he don’t care?
The father explains to the boy that you are color blind
That you can’t see the red bird against the white snow
That you can’t see the gray
That you can only see in black and white
That your eyes speak your mind,
He says, yes son, that man is color blind.
Then the little boy stared into your discriminating eyes and said
I pray that you can see the gray,
I pray that you can see the yellow stars against the black sky
Daddy says I’m lucky that I can see the gray
He says that’s God’s way
That the colors just melt into one
That’s all that matters at the end of the day.
Then I saw you walk away
Tears in your eyes
And for the first time
You saw the gray.
