Where I'm From
I’m from the spring time
from Mt. Dew and flip flips
I am from the pictures all over my room
that all hold a special memory
and the jewelry scattered all over my dresser
I am from summer vacations
going to the beach
spending countless hours in the sun.
I’m from Skyline and pom poms
from Rocky and Dillard.
I’m from a family of five
being the baby.
I’m from the gentle scent of tide
as I pass by the laundry room.
I’m from becoming Who You Are
learning life lessons
and finding who I am along the way.
I’m from Cincinnati and Graeters
greasy French fries and hot Starbucks.
From matching outfits that I wore
and the neighborhood kids I was always with.
Under my bed was a memory box
with keep sakes I’ve gathered.
Spilling the beans and telling on my older sisters,
was what I did best.
I am from those moments
that I’ll never forget
knowing that I left an impression
on my family tree.
