Good Old Friend
It's been through life in changing seasons. First with sheets of rain cascading down, quenching its thirst, changing leaves to brilliant shades of green.
Soon the sun spends its days perched atop the sky, feeding it with its warmth. Cool breezes then settle in and whisper secrets to the world, silent voices, bringing about oranges, yellows, and reds.
They fall.
Then white.
A glistening blanket of crystals cover the ground, and leaves no longer exist.
Years go by, its health fading like the bark on the burn-colored trunk.
Good old friend, your time has come.
Let the earth have you.
