Significance of a Saturday Afternoon
The weight of those once somber clouds
left my shoulder on the day we met
in the park by the river.
Sitting in the grass, you and I.
No longer hidden,
our thoughts diffused through
the humble expressions on our faces.
A smile contagiously released as you crack a joke.
The only witnesses of our laughter: our shadows.
You are the bright blue of the sunny sky
and the cheerful yellow of the daisies.
These colors define the existence that is us.
I'd swim across the Pacific
if I was guaranteed to have such an undeniable aesthetic feeling
in my soul forever--
A feeling as beautiful as nature:
the fields of flowers surrounding us,
the birds singing to our ears,
and the leaves fluently dancing in the trees.
I have found the perfection of the imperfect,
the clarity of the unclear,
the completion of the incomplete,
the one thing that fills the emptiness in my heart:
Love.
