Alive, But Burning
The night was chilled, the fire lit-
We sat around it all-
I saw the flaming of the pit-
Progress around the wall.
The world around me turned about-
In sight of that poor soul-
She barreled through the rigid slout-
Like a gigantic troll.
I screamed upon seeing the scene-
Running through the trees-
Baffled by the burning stream-
And sound of scrunching leaves.
And so I ended up right here-
Alive to tell the tale-
Without so much a scar or sear leading to the trail.
