My Breath Stops Short
My breath stops short, my senses have gone crazy,
when was the last time I saw you?
Your gentle voice fills my memories
and if there was a way to bring you back,
I wouldn’t do it for the world.
My mind fades back to my battered soul
that once knew you and now feels nothing.
This pain I feel cannot be seen on the outside,
the bruises on my legs that you left behind have healed
but the cuts in my heart and the wounds on my soul
will forever be with me as reminders.
Reminding me of the pain life can cause,
remind me of your evil,
but also reminding me of my happiness
due to your absence in my life.
