A Dream
Over the skies pale blue and green
With misty mountains to be seen
A rising sun warming the breeze
My one true dream I yearned to see:
As a moment ended the fervent din
Her soft words spoken out and in
Oh what a pleasing sound I’d hear
With the calming stream, murmuring near
I walked through open paths between
And out to a field in the open green
Walked through an archway and over the floor
And I knocked on the wood of the ivy door
And then I saw her soft and bright
My eyes were blind with soft white light
As the shimmering glow then faded away
I saw a girl dressed all in gray
With her golden hair, so bright and fair
And her crystal eyes, streamed with blue
Her name sent thrills as her touch sent chills
As I saw the face of beauty true
My breath would catch as she then smiled
For I haven’t felt like this in awhile
Almost as if all the clouds were driven
And there we stood, alone in heaven
Or like a ship some gentle day
We were hand in hand sailing far away
But then it all turned dark and black
And I had come to face the fact:
I fell for the fake illusion once more
Like the million times I’ve fallen before
I fell for the dream that was a lie
The dream I’d see every single night
And the days go by, and I live on
With a shattered hope, which I can’t believe
My one true dream that I yearned to see
Was my only dream that could never be
