Empty Alarm Clock
It’s funny how something so long ago
And something so well forgotten
Will jump your life from behind
And set off the domino effect of emotional destruction
Unsettle the clear blue water
That has been so pleasantly still lately
Nothing set off this empty alarm clock but time
No harsh words, no looks of hate
No words or looks at all
However the sight, every other day
Unknowingly kills me inside
Appearing asleep, unaware and unaffected to all others
Face looks soft and innocent
As eyes softly lie
Nothing set off this empty alarm clock but time
