A Kid Who Was Not Thought Best
A kid who was not thought best
Because his skin was not like the rest
But if you press
To see what is inside
And you pried
You would find
In time
That he was not so unequal
He is trustworthy
Faithfulness in quantity
With friends and family
Though very few
He was loyal to
Bristling with intellect
In his chest
Beating without rest
Lies a heart
This is tearing apart
He has a soul
It is getting cut, taking a toll
Hurt as a broken bone
So why does he have to feel disjoined
They say he’s different
But is he?
Does he smell different?
Sound different?
Feel different?
No
A kid who was not thought best
Because his skin was not like the rest
