To Scream
To scream, or not to scream, that is the question:
Whether ‘tis nobler to release one’s anger
In a loud, boisterous roar that gives relief
Or to barricade one’s anger in
And by doing so overcome it. To hold it in – to overcome,
No more; and by holding anger in we end
The fear of unintentionally offending others
With our screams: ‘tis an outcome
That will be welcomed. To hold it in, to overcome;
To overcome, perchance to learn self control – ay, there’s the rub:
For when we overcome we exercise self control
And after we have shuffled off what pangs us,
We realize that life is too short – that’s why
We must let go of our anger.
The rude man, the disrespectful child,
The snippy comment from a lover, the insult from a friend
Are the things that anger us,
But why? One could settle everything
With just letting things roll off their shoulders.
The need to let out one’s emotions
And have the last word has caused
One to wish to scream.
Thus desires do make cowards of us all,
And our will power becomes pale.
This causes us to loose sight of what is important,
