Live Like There's No Tomorrow

There go the people.
I must follow them for I am their leader.
Alexandre Ledru-Rollin

Insult sparks revenge in Cupid
Arrows of love one lead and one gold
Now of love, the poor girl is rid
And rejected is his passion.

He follows and coos and wishes to hold
But the maiden runs for the arrow forbid
Even if her father told.

But passion sends Apollo for his love is not hid
Cursed the body which Paneus remold
Farewell she bid
And rejected is his passion

The author's comments:
The Roundel was devised by Algernon Charles Swinburne. It has 12 lines that follows the rhyme scheme: ABAR BAB ABAR. This poem also narrates is the famous story of Daphne and Apollo and the origin of the laurel wreath.
On one side this legend tells us not to mess with winged-children who have magic bows, but also mentions the sexual harassment from Gods thereby showing once again how powerless a human can be.

HaHa, Do not mess with winged children! Unrequited love is so sad.
