Will I Forget this Moment??

Once I stood
before friends and family,
The microphone slipped
in my sweaty palms,
I heard the music play
but it seemed thousands of miles away,
I saw eyes stare at me
I felt a coldness in my stomach,
I heard giggles in the distance
which made my face
hot, like pepper sauce,
But once I looked
at my hero, my dad
and he mouthed,
“Forget everyone,
show them what you got!”
Again I asked for the music to play,
and once I opened
my mouth, I sounded like a bird
in early spring!
