The countdown
it happens every year.
But that once
that one year –
Do you remember
as well as I do?
Counting down
to that blast of light
explosion of sounds, colors,
and feelings all at once.
A mirror image:
our turning faces.
Our lips meet
accidentally meaningful
and I have fireworks
all my own.
