You and I Are Disappearing
You and I are disappearing,
like a quarter in some silly magic trick.
So now it is just you
I minus the and
because not even a simple word connects us now,
now only empty space sits between us.
But without you, I is nothing.
So it is just
you,
sitting there alone on the paper
And I is no longer me,
just a stupid pronoun tossed aside.
It doesn’t even matter that I is gone,
that I am gone.
But you will realize that you is quite lonely without an I,
so you will leave too and find another I.
You and I have disappeared,
have disappeared.
