secret tongues

we speak in secret tongues
a mass of skin
bones
organs
and two hearts
intertwined
by one seemingly fragile string
that has withstood hurricanes
droughts
torrents of rain
and frigid blizzards
but that string has made it through
now wizened
but always prevalent
that binds our souls
as we lay together
even in death
