Waking up early with the summer sun,
Quickly and quietly I dress in my clothes.
Lifejacket, gloves—I can’t forget those!
Piling my hair up in a messy bun,
I race of the door, ready for fun!

OC is still quiet, but I’m wide awake,
Zipping down Bay Avenue on my bike,
Ready to trim in, ease out, head up, and hike.
It’s a dangerous sport, but it’s a risk I’ll take
Gladly, thinking of all the memories I’ll make.

Can’t wait for the feeling of the wind in my hair,
Zooming across the water with a hum and a splash,
Knowing I’ll finish the race in a flash.
It’s a lot of work, but I’m prepared
To harness the whooshing, whirling air.

Ready to live and breathe telltales,
(Which are a sailor’s very best friends).
I’ll do my best, but let’s not pretend,
I’ll be speeding along without fail.
I smile and breathe. I’m ready to sail.
