Dirty fingers reaching out
Letting go of fear and doubt
Dirty fingers reaching out
Lips forming but cannot shout
Plea bubbling in their eyes
Letting go of fear and doubt
Somebody has heard their cries
Their bullies grumble
Plea bubbling in their eyes
So parched they can’t even mumble
Frail and weak
Their bellies grumble
Only food they seek
Nowhere to hide
Frail and weak
Their mother died

The author's comments:
This poem is in Terzanelle form which means it's a 19 line poem consisting of five interlocking triplets/tercets plus a concluding quatrain. The rhyme scheme is as fallows-A, B, A, b, C, B, c, D, C, d, E, D, e, F, E, f, A, F, A. Caps are repeats and lower case rhyme with the upper case of the same letter. It's a really fun type of poetry to experiment with I recommend you try it!
