Under the Midnight Sky
We sat there,
In the tall grass busy with crickets,
Conversing
About life
…and death
Never understanding the meaning of either
In a moment of silence we look up
To see a velvet sky
Covered with gemstones
Creating light where dark reigned
The heavens had opened wide
And the angels were looking down
Winking
From up in that inky blue canvas
Problems didn’t seem so big
And we seemed so small
Only a speck of time,
The stars an eternity
Living,
Breathing,
Loving
All became more important
We wanted to capture that moment
And keep it forever in our pockets
Because from that night on
We knew life was going to be different
And under that midnight sky
We lost ourselves
…We found ourselves
