A Childhood Wish
As a child
Many wish for things
ponies or puppies
Just to name a few
I had no desire for these
My wish?
A dad
When this wish
became a reality
I was ecstatic
Throughout the years
You
Were there for me
You
Supported me
You
Became my best friend
Suddenly
this
was all forced to end
It then hit me
How close we really were
Making this separation even harder
Even now
I deny
how much it pains me
As Much
as I desire to
I can’t say
“I miss you”
Without
tears blurring my vision
Regardless
of what is said
You’re my Dad
And I love you
