A Rose
Withering away,
On the dusty shelf;
I sit there in loneliness,
Waiting for a soul to return.
As each day passes,
I begin to feel more and more lifeless.
A leaf floats off from my stem,
Swiftly, falling to the ground.
The sunlight dimly brightens the room.
Clouds darken the surroundings.
A lamp sits nearby,
Threatening to switch on.
The breeze picks up in the background,
Blowing the curtains towards the sky.
Rain begins to fall from overhead;
At last, some life.
Moisture quenches my thirst.
Comfort fills my hunger.
Footsteps can be heard by the door.
I am no longer alone.
