breakage
I can't believe how quickly things change
with a few spoken words
or maybe the lack of some
I recall when you would whisper,
"I love you"
and I would sigh into your chest
and all you could do was make me
fall more in love and in
fascination
with you
but now the sighs have stopped coming
I am no longer your darling
and I am no longer the first thought
to come into your head when you wake up
the "I love you's" suddenly turned into
painful silences on your end
I am slipping through your fingers
and as I plead for attention and for
the familiar feeling of
being all and everything you need
you don't even seem
to notice the change
at all
