Approximately K

Drama and deception
Is really the perception
Of every little birdy
Who spreads every little word

And all I’ve ever heard
Is that it’s utterly absurd
And that the meaning of life
Is nothing but a test

And even at my best
I’m never fully dressed
In the patience and perfection
That I need

And my life’s and open book to read
Except for the double life I lead
At one time or another
It all crashed and burned

This is what I’ve learned
And I’m utterly unconcerned
That the test of life
Has no answer that’s right

Why shouldn’t it be a fight
To put the truth to light
When I’m being eaten from the outside in
By the bickering of the stars

And even if a beam routine could beat the bars
And Pluto could beat mars
Or we figured out that the answer, the meaning of life
Was approximately K?
The little birdies would still say
The gossip of the day
We’d all listen intently and laugh and poke fun
Though we really want to cry

Because to succeed we must lie
And everything deny
Out hearts our souls
They all burned and were released

The day the library ceased
To show my open book pieced
Together with tape and glue
Who knew how we relied so

On always having to know
There’s nowhere else to go
We remain here
In our comfort zone

Utterly alone
While the saints repetitively drone
On and on and on
Mad as a hatter

Though it doesn’t matter
That the ball went past the batter
And the crowds went wild
Wild as fire

You’re such a liar
Thinking I’m a buyer
Of such tales
As Cinderella and the little mermaid

Not that they obeyed
And their backs were open and flayed
By a whip
Made of happily ever after’s false comfort

And the words were curt
That’s why it hurt
So much to find out
That you lie as easily as depression makes you want to sleep

Can’t you see the way it makes me weep?
And the promises you didn’t keep
They mattered; mattered more then the saints were mad
You can’t begin to see you’re falling into oblivion

I’m the one
Who wants to run
Straight off the cliff
And laugh

All the way down the path
Because of that test in math
When you looked at my answers
And saw approximately K

Nice poem, it's very cool the way you rhymed it and I agree with most of your points. At times I got confused, but all in all a well-written and thought out poem!
