The Little Things
I never thought
 I’d be sitting
 Underneath this solemn tree
 Your eyes mirrored in mine
 The butterflies dancing around
 Our interlocked knees
 The sky dripping of a
 Promiscuous blue that revealed
 A subtle splotch of white—
Never a flaw in such a perfect ocean,
But always a wave of delight.
No, I never thought you could teach me
 More about the little things
 Than what I already knew—
But you made every ant in the dirt
Become an invaluable queen of the universe,
Every little fish in the sea
Was a grand reflection of you and me.
