And I Burn

And it starts,
I reach out and the electricity
Burn my fingers.
But I don’t mind it.

And then I stare into the depths
Of the things I love the most and
I continue to burn,
But I don’t mind it.

The it strikes and I scream out,

And the world dissolves to a place

Irrelevant to me,
And the burning causes my heart to race
And my lips to ache and
Every nerve reacts to this.

But what it this?

Is it what I’ve wanted all along?
Or is this simple human instinct,
Causing me to show my nature,
To show the animalistic side I
Keep hidden so well.

But I burn on,
And you’re with me,
Causing the pain I desire.

But I don’t mind.
