She picks at the scab to test
The wound. Crimson
Memories flood to the surface,
A familiar sight.

A Peculiar significance in the
Reality of repeatedly destroying
the natural Band-Aid and watch it grow back
to only be mercilessly ripped off again,
to satisfy a perpetual curiosity.

A resultant to its destructive defeat,
Is that now the wound,
not ready to face the world,
Can stare back in horror,
Feeling naked.
Depth has been removed from
The girl’s eyes,
And she repeats the cycle
Of dissection and repair
and only to dissect again.
