Lilium
The wind howls beneath the grey sky
As the cold breath of God embraces my pale skin.
A choir of angels all in black
Sing to me as they lower me into the earth:

 Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam
 Et lingua eius loqueter indicium
 Beatus vir qui suffert tentationem
 Quoniqmcum probates
 fuerit accipient coronam vitae…

Any mortal could never hear such majesty.
A song: too pure to be witnessed,
An aria: too godly to be heard.
A hymn so pure and holy, like a Lily.

 … Kyrie, fons bonitatis…
 …Kyrie, ignis, divine, eleison…

Oh what beauty have I found?
 Heaven and Earth’s glorious paean.
The sun and star’s silencing lullaby.
Leaving one to rest in peace
Until the eternal flame is blown out.

 O quam sancta, quam serena,
 Quam benigma, quam amoena,
 O castitatis lilium.
