It Has Me
Born with innocence
With every word comes a smile
Then IT creeps up
Replacing virtue with something vile
Like a viper in the grass IT slithers and derides
Dark tendrils pulsing with need
IT wants my soul
IT needs to feed
IT grabs my life
Pushes me far down
To a place I don’t exist
A place I can’t be found
IT acts just like me
But IT shall deceive
Yet part of my soul
Will cower from the sin I’ve conceived
Darkness has consumed me
IT is gnawing away inside
IT endures forever without end
When every other part has died
Hope hasn’t a chance
IT has snuffed out its light
IT has cut me off
Demolished my will to fight.
