A Woman's Flaws
A beauty takes place in a woman’s flaws—
a beauty in the design of unchipped faces
they way her hips swing
the angle of her head when daydreaming
the looks she receives from secret admires
but nobody could ever like her
for her imperfections
For goodness sake, do not wish
to be flawless, perfect, or undamaged
demand the dark birthmark across the arm,
the left lazy eye,
the mole upon your cheek
someone will notice,
someone will care,
someone will want a woman
for her perfect imperfections
nips and tucks only take away from her beauty
it’s the tone of her cracked voice in the morning,
the way she rolls over with a sleepy smile,
not the scar from her nose job,
but the scar from a playground when she was once a child
that makes her beautiful
