Unopened Door
They all do this the people or them
That walk out of my life but suddenly reappear
Making their way back
And I’m suppose to let them back in
No questions
Or even answers in return
For what they did
Nearly broken and picking up the pieces as I shut the door behind them.
Watching them walk away
Screaming in my mind for them to look my way
No turning back
Just goodbye
And I am left holding uncompleted promises
Untold truths and a broken me
Now Present time
standing in the same place
In front of the door
Wanting a way back into my life
Even after so much time has passed
To believe that I’m suppose to mean something now after all this time
Weeks, months, seasons have passed
As if nothing’s happened
But in reality I’ve had to get away to put myself back together
Let new people in to fix the damage only to be damaged after they’ve left
Believed their words time and time again
Month after month I wanted it all
And here we are
Unsure of what I want
My choice to let you through this door and to believe the things you say
Or to be back to the start
Having to run away to forget you once more…
