A Bystander

I watch as the clouds drift in the sky
I watch the time as it slowly flies by
I watch the trees breathing for free
The circle of life, happening in front of me
I watch a pair of hands, holding each other tight
I watch them happily intertwined, but fading in the night
I watch them break away, for the night soon is day
It’s saddening to watch what I know can never stay
