You Want Me To Be Happy
You want me to be happy
But my world shifts with the seasons.
I am a spark that doesn’t burn
Enough to light the way.
I am an idea; a question
That often people don’t ask.
You want me to be happy
But your worry is not the only
Thing I feel.
I am a flower that people assume
Will be watered by the rain,
Yet I have grown to be worn and tired;
Always looking back on the past.
You want me to be happy
But I will never be like you.
I will not find what I need
If I continue to look for it in others.
