The world is far too vast for me to know
The world is far too vast for me to know
The cure with which to quell my raging heart,
But still, from girl to woman I must grow.
My future buds beneath the winter snow
So near, and yet a thousand leagues apart;
The world is far too vast for me to know.
And every misstep strikes me like a blow
With wisdom now, I pray, let me restart!
But still, from girl to woman I must grow.
And let the seasons give up all they owe,
Let sun and wind be th’other’s counterpart --
The world is far too vast for me to know.
My little feet sucked at by undertow,
I’ll bravely face the current, call it art --
But still, from girl to woman I must grow.
For I, the same as all the seeds they sow,
Can’t yet absorb all’th knowledge you impart;
The world is far too vast for me to know,
But still, from girl to woman I must grow.
