It all starts with a mother’s voice
The first couple words,
No
the first sentence is said but few get what the child is saying,  
They believe it’s a baby thing
soon they will understand.
 
First grade the child speaks but no one understands 
Second grade the child says less than first 
Third grade the child, well third the child becomes somewhat of a mute,
prefers his small pointer finger.
 
At home the child’s stomach is growling points to the fridge,
Mouth feels like the Sahara, he points to a cup
That's all the child believes he needs.

When the child is at school he sees others socialize,
the child tries to socialize,
but the children the child tries to socialize with, walk away before he finishes a sentence
They couldn’t wait for the child to stop struggling out a sentence.
They walk away and the child feels hurt inside,
But long ago the child learned to hide everything
With a big smile.

The child points less after kept getting told it's rude,
But the child keeps smiling,
the same old fake hurt painful smile.

Skip to middle school the child gets help with his speech
Gets better with his speech 
But the kids grow tired of waiting for the child to try to say a sentence and the kids finish the sentence for him.
They think they're helping,
but the child after a while starts to believe he can't speak for himself
So when someone says a word for him
The child does what he was taught,
to hide his emotion with a smile.
The child gets told his speech has improved so much, he no longer sees the speech counselor

High school freshman year the child struggles less,
But
The child still struggles,
Sophomore the child struggles rarely,
Junior the child struggles none of the time
But
One thing that will never change in that child
is the fake emotionless smile.
