Words
Words.
They can either save lives
Or end them.
Too many people toss around words
Like a ticking time bomb,
As if they hold no meaning;
But I’m here to tell you that
Words can sting
Worse than frostbite on a bitter, winter day.
Did you ever think of the damage
Your haunting, antagonizing words can create?
Did you ever think
That for someone, you make life brutal
And they’re ready to give up
Just because it all seems so futile?
Did you ever think
That your wasted words burn worse than a forest fire
And that someone believes
Killing themself is everyone’s desire?
Did you ever think
That because of you,
Because of the way you torture girls for their appearances,
Someone feels like they take up precious space on this earth,
And that nothing they do holds any worth,
And that maybe they should’ve just died before birth?
Your words,
Your choruses of insults,
Weigh people down,
And cause them to drown,
Within their tsunami of thoughts, thinking,
”Am I good enough?”
Of course, the answer is yes,
But they would never know this,
Because of your words.
Words are poison.
How would you feel if you found out
That the girl you called fat starves herself,
And that the girl you called ugly has a facial deformity,
And that they now feel obliged to shield who they are
Because of your twisted mentality
That despises individuality?
They think females need porcelain skin
And petite bodies that will shatter with a single touch,
In order to be pretty,
And they now conceal their true beauty,
Because of the words you fired at them.
They were speeding bullets,
With no intention of stopping.
So, stop beating people up for their flaws,
Because you have no idea what this can cause.
So next time, before you speak, be sure to pause,
Because one little word that seems so small
Can easily put an end to it all.
