Hot winds swirl in a devilishly sandy rhyme
And I sit here dreaming of rain , hoping it will come in time
Out here there is no “obligatory rain”
Dear God , come down and water the barren plains
Before Ma died she left me a note to read every day
“And child , this is what thou must pray” ,
“Oh god in heaven and lord above , please pour out the rain”
She used to tell me he was in every bit , every drop
And every day , praying for rain I will never stop
And here I stand with clouds rolling in
Crashing in , storming in ,
The lightning brightens up the evening sky
And suddenly , I know why
The ecstasy bringing wetness makes it plain
I truly know that god is in the rain .

In fourth grade I read a book called Out of The Dust , about a girl growing up in the barredn wasteland of the dust bowl during the great deppresion . 5 years later , I decided that it was time to write a oem about it .

This piece was very well written and just so interesting to read. I like the rhymes you put together and how the whole story is connected. You getting a not to pray for rain then realizing the God is in every drop.
