A Cynic's Viewpoint on Love
I remember that moment in time
When life didn't seem so real
Almost like I was in a daze
My mind was numb,no matter the pain
I couldn't feel
Let's take that scene from the park
In my mind it's a pretty good start
Start from square one on what went down that day
You'll find out why I didn't stay
Two moms and a child , all hand and hand
The looks in their eyes could only be love
The man on that bench is giving them a glare
I hope to God that they don't care
Take a look at what's happening ,way over there
A jogger and his dog ambling by
When the dog dog saw a squirrel and didn't run away
What the jogger felt could only be love
See that librarian by the picnic tables
Over there reading the thick book
She turned to the last page with a sigh
As if she'd lost a friend
Over by the soccer field
A boy just scored a goal
His teammates missed his hair
An raised in him in the air, like a king
At the fountain in the middle of the park
I can't see it very well, it's almost dark
A man gets down on one knee
And suddenly he has a bride-to-be
Down under the tallest tree
A father tosses his baby in the air
She squeals in delight
Because she knows he will catch her
And the way she trusts him, is described as love
What is love, I ask myself
I think I found out that night
The scene in the park ,I thought
Was trying to tell me what was right
I look for the man alone on the bench
Watching a cynic's view on love
Then I saw something that amazes me
He was by the fountain, with his bride-to-be
Somewhere along this path
I've hoped that you'd realize something
In none of these stories can I see you and me
I think you know why I didn't stay.

I wrote this piece about two years ago. It shows how others view love, especially when they think they don't have any.
