“You write beautifully. The inside of your mind must be a terrible place.”

The first day water held her skin,
She wondered at her world,
And questioned where she could begin.
She marveled as it swirled.

When straining lungs cried out for air,
She broke through liquid ceiling.
Though blinded, all she did was stare,
Her blue grew less appealing.

Her urge to meet that sky was strong,
She jumped and tried her best.
She crashed back down, could not stay long,
Her failure caused distress.

She leaped and leaped but just fell short
To simply brush that sky.
Her newborn needs could not distort
The will she had to try.

When hopeful body could not fight
She laid right on her back,
And watched in awe the dying light,
Afraid of fade to black.

Amazed, astonished, and in awe,
She floated onto land,
And unaware of one key flaw,
She reached out one weak hand.

Her youthful body became lead
As she cried out to the sky,
But met with fleeting pinks and reds,
Her heart could only sigh.

Her heavy body crushed itself
While she’d tried to reach her sky.
She smiled and consoled her,
And wished she’d learned to fly.

Be happy, not because everything you see is good, but because you can see the good in everything.

Hey, great poetry! I like the depth of it.
