Favorite Quote:
"Someone can make you feel inferior only if you give them permission"

I see your eyes
I see the blackness in between
You tie up your brain
And continue to make a scene

You drink your way to heaven
But end up in an earthly hell
High on some sort of magic spell

I see you feel so tall
Drinking until you can't think
The ever so alluring drug: alcohol

Your words are your heart
I am the amputee, trying to make it start
Your mind goes limp
While I sing along to my favorite hymn

Your mind cries out in agony
As I watch you guzzle it down
The irony is:
You think I'm the clown!

I wish I could make it all disappear
I cry, but my mind becomes clear
I start to think
And release all fear

This poem attempts to capture the feelings that come with knowing someone who is an alcoholic and touches on how thinking about yourself and your goals instead of thinking about them helps the coping process.
