"Someone can make you feel inferior only if you give them permission"

Who are we?
It never seems quite clear
The people around try to guess
Assuming less, tearing down strength
And because of this, they are wrong
True strength comes from within
That is what makes a person strong
Humans break each other down
It is natural I see
Masks, facades, lies, distortions are a human reality
Are you ok? people ask
I pause, say yes as I put up my mask
Tears, sweat, lies are all nice when people can see
But when they can't, they become your distorted personality
Anger, sadness, depression--all too real
Feelings that rip you from the inside out
Consuming your mind and soul
Every bone in your body loses control
And you suddenly blackout
But that is what life is all about
Dealing with the losers that can't see the bigger picture
Feelings, experiences, secrets that aren't found in scripture
What is behind the mirror?
Unless you are the seer, you'll never know
Closer up it might seem clearer
A raven in the snow

The author's comments:

A raven is easy to spot in the snow because of the difference between black and white. Assumptions are the same way. They almost always differ from the truth.
