Guilty Pleasure
I pull open the the freezer door and snatch the ice cream container.
On my toes, heart racing,
I sprint up the stairs to my room.
I crawl under my loft and pull out my iphone to click on the Netflix app.
Chocolate sugar cookie crumbles in my mouth.
Sugar fills my body, and I suddenly feel giddy.
I scoop more frozen cream out of the tub
and continue to watch my favorite show, Riverdale.
The cold spoon against my lips zaps me awake.
Later, I plunge for the next spoonful,
but realize there’s no more ice cream…
I ate it all.
I stick my utensil in the empty tub, set it by the wall, and pause Riverdale.
I squirm out of my hiding place empty handed,
and walk out of the room with my energy level bouncing off the walls,
and taste buds savoring the sweet taste of my guilty pleasure.
A few days later, my mom finds a dried out ice cream container
in the same place where I left it.
She wasn’t too happy about it.
She doesn’t buy ice cream anymore.
I learned my lesson.

I am aware that ice cream and gelato are very different. I was just saying that they are similar. Gelato is made with more eggs and is more challenging to make than ice cream. I appreciate your concern, though. It's always nice to meet a fellow foodie.
Ice cream has always been a comfort food to me and I think that I was getting a little to addicted to the sugar. I wanted to share my fun giulty pleasure with others and let them know that sometimes you have to restrain yourself from the things that you love.
