Ode to Bolita

Dear Bolita,
No one likes you,
But that’s okay because I do.
Your aggressive attitude scares people,
However, I find it fascinating.
Your rough and filthy fur
Leaves my fingers feeling dry,
And stained with affection.
Your big brown eyes with tiny specks of blue,
Stare at me with hope.
Hope that maybe, just maybe I will rub your belly.
When I do, your eyes hide.
As my fingers stride across your exposed skin.
Once satisfied,
You gallop to your house.
Without a second glance.
