Pride can be a hell of a thing
A congratulatory pat or
A ready smile from your father
It strokes the ego
Like a smooth hand over a Persian cat’s fur
It grows confidence
Like the sun to a plant
Most of all, it gives power
Power to raise your voice
Power to go after what you want
Pride can be a hell of a thing.
