“I love vacation!”

said no one ever.

I settle into

the middle seat

reserved just for me.

Why?

Because I’m the youngest of three girls

who are the same height and weight.

Memo to younger self:

don’t be born last.

What’s food?

On vacation,

sustenance is as optional

as bathroom breaks.

Lucky for me

yelling is always on the menu.

Military precision planning is a must.

How dare I take a minute extra,

because my finger was stuck

in the door?

Pulling into the motel at 2 AM

instead of 10 PM

was definitely my fault

and not faulty navigating.

My family is dysfunctional

and I love them for it,

but relaxation

and vacation

are not in our repertoire.
