" All who wander are not lost." J.R.R. Tolkien

A brush of velvet dusk above my head gleaming with promises of starlight as I stare out the car window

Trees telephone wires and neon signs rushing the tired people towards the highway exits

I rest my head against the gray leather beneath the window

Watching

As everything flicks by like the reel of a moving picture too fast for my hungry eyes to follow

The sky is the only thing that remains the same

A stretch of constant pale candlelight transcending through the cosmos to make a twinkle appear in my eye

Light is beautiful when compared to the darkness of night

A holy glow drifting towards me from the realm of absent light

Behind these windows the darkness is safe

I have always loved the way the light moves across the places I have been

How in the darkness I only see the light.

If I blur my eyes entire cities melt away

White orange and yellow are the only colors I see in an otherwise black ocean of sky

Lights

Floating as treasured and pure as a child’s imagination

Breaking the shadows on the empty pavement

As we move along into the night.
