"Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality." ~ Lewis Carroll's Cheshire Cat

I was alone

For so long

It was my own

Fault.

I was scared

To make a friend

I was scared

To let them in.

I was alone,

And scared ‘cause,

I had been hurt

By the buzz

Of voices in

School hallways.

I’d been broken down,

Until I lay.

Broken,

Defeated

Cursed

And Beaten

I did not stand strong.

I did not fight.

I did cry.

And I wasn’t always in the right.

But I made it through.

I put it in the past.

Even if I didn’t want to,

I at least did that….

You have been alone

For so long.

It’s your own

Fault

You are scared

To make a friend

You are scared

To let them in.

You are alone

And scared cause…

Well… I don’t know why,

But I will put that on pause.

Until you’re a friend,

I will not let you be.

I will help you,

By being me.

For I was scared

For I was hurt

For I was wrong

For I was cursed

For I regret

For I bemoan

For I was hurt

For I was sewn

Back together

Bone by bone.

For I was…

Alone

The author's comments:

I reach out to include everyone I can in everything I do. I see myself in other outsiders, and I try to help them. If it makes me an outsider... well then I can live with myself, because I know I tried to help someone rather than let them suffer alone.

So yes. I've been an outsider/loser/bully victim whatever you want to call it, but it's made me a better person.
