Favorite Quote:
When life gives you lemons, write abstract poetry.

My prison's made of brick of bone

which troubled thoughts echo throughout

but go unheard by all the rest

For one lone cell controls my breath

I walk the halls so paved in red

and greet the guards who once were friends

who gathered in my humble home

with messages of care and hope

that put the rosy walls to ease

the ones that trap me as I speak

Pulsing with my beating heart

It so controls with just a spark

a spark could set me free at last

my prison knows me much too well

controls my thoughts and moves my flesh

My sentence here is set for life

and from it I cannot escape

without the loss of something more

and dreadful as my cage may be

there must be another way to be free.

The author's comments:

This peice was written when I was at a very low point in my life; when my mind felt like a cage I wanted to be free of. It originally had a more sinister ending, but as my mental health has improved, it has taken on lighter tones. I hope one day I can revisit this poem and write it in a completely postive light.
