Fallen Angel
She beheld the sky twice as often as she glared into her hand mirror.
The untainted clouds hummed as they danced.
Through rays of unfiltered sunlight, she smiled longingly at the heavens,
Willing her wings to sprout from her bloodstained spine.
But she knew…
the indisputable, inevitable
truth.
She had ruined her life.
She had driven a rusted dagger through her fragile silk woven existence.
She saw her wings falling to the frigid ice-cloaked ground;
just as she had plummeted to the silent Earth,
feathers like tears,
every sin a piece of her heart,
her world forever broken.
The moon drifted over the horizon and she prayed,
her delicate hands interwoven;
dreaming that one day she could venture back to her…
home.
