One Thousand Problems

The lonesome flower swayed slowly in a field of grass. Dawn had cast its spell upon it, morning dew clung heavily to its leaves, one thousand problems everyday. The pollen kept it alive. Quickened heart beats and emotional uncertainty. And then there were its petals. Ever so delicate to the touch. The inner ones, healthiest but not wanting to show through fear of judgement and lack of confidence. The outermost, colored faded pink, slowly turning brown. A radiant mind but dying thoughts. And what of the middle ones? Caught in between day and night.

For this set piece, I was working on symbolism and personification through the story of a flower and wanted to try a different kind of writing. I liked this piece because it resonates with a part of me. I also liked that Iwas able to channel that into my writing.
