F L I G H T
To learn and explore, where passion lies
But feathered wings bound at my sides.
I’d fly away to where I wear not my happiness like a mask,
And with true pleasure do finish tasks.
You shrink and hide alone in the dark
When others try to tell you what you aren't.
When will you stand by when things are rough
But realize that this is me and I am enough.
Come skipping, skipping with me to a place where laughter rings,
Where no longer do you break through iron shackles in your dreams,
But find yourself at last and take flight on golden wings.

I was inspired to write this piece because I feel that with social pressure among many other things, it is hard for young adults to find something that they feel really passionate about. And if, by chance, that they do, it is even harder for them to be allowed to pursue that thing. Never give up.
